Founded on July 4th, 1976, Kennedy base one was The United States' first lunar base. With a NASA and Miltary staff of 56 souls, it was to be proof of American technological superiority to the world.
That however before it was to be revealed to the world on August 8, 1984, the united states military fired a 20 megaton nuclear missile at the base from the earth, destroying it and everyone there. The reason for the destruction of the Kennedy base one is still unknown.
